Enriched with protein – Modified texture

Our commitment is based on four key pillars: nutritional expertise, taste, ease of use, and innovation.
We offer protein-enriched solutions from breakfast to dinner: bread-based meals to prepare yourself or ready-to-eat options, hot meals and/or meal components, desserts, and powders for enrichment. We also offer thickened beverages and powders for thickening.

They meet strict standards and ensure food safety. To adjust the texture of the food, they follow the international IDDSI guidelines.

The patient/resident is our top priority. The specially adapted and protein-enriched meals are delicious, have an authentic flavor, and stimulate the appetite. The more people enjoy a meal, the better they eat.

Findus timbales—designed to be eaten with a spoon or your hands—are ready-to-eat meal components with a soft and smooth texture, a pleasant flavor, and high protein content.

What is protein-enriched food?

Healthy adults need about 0.8 g of protein per kg of body weight each day. With aging, illness, recovery, or intense exercise, that requirement can rise to 1.5 g/kg/day or more. For someone weighing 50 kg, this amounts to about 75 g of protein per day.

When it becomes difficult to eat enough due to illness, a decreased appetite, or problems chewing and swallowing, a protein deficiency may develop. This can lead to weight loss and a loss of muscle mass and strength.

Small, nutrient-dense meals and protein-rich snacks can help ensure you get enough protein.

What is finger food?

“Finger food” literally means “food eaten with the fingers.” People usually think of the snacks served at a reception or party: amuse-bouches, appetizers, bitterballen, croquettes, hamburgers, a bag of fries …

In healthcare, however, “finger food” refers to eating with your hands and has nothing to do with any of these examples. In a hospital or long-term care facility, it is a fully-fledged alternative to a traditional meal eaten with a knife and fork. It is a method of eating in which people consume small bites with their hands. Thanks to its firm texture, finger food does not fall apart. Our wide variety of finger foods are fortified, ensuring they contain all the nutrients necessary for good health (proteins, minerals, vitamins, and essential fatty acids). They come in various shapes and colors that can help certain patients recognize the food and stimulate the senses.

What is texture-modified food?

Eating and drinking enough is not easy for people with chewing and swallowing difficulties. The swallowing process is complex, and there are many reasons that can cause swallowing disorders.

Ensuring that people with swallowing difficulties can eat and drink safely requires a great deal of expertise. Out of fear of choking or because eating takes a lot of energy, they consciously eat and drink less.

The IDDSI Framework

Texture Guarantee for Safe Guidance in Accordance with IDDSI Guidelines

The IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative) is an international framework that classifies foods and beverages according to precise levels of texture and thickness.

Within our product line, we use the IDDSI classification system to categorize foods and beverages based on their texture and thickness, thereby providing clear guidance to healthcare professionals.

Food and beverages must be smooth and soft, amylase-resistant, free of lumps, and have a consistent, safe, and appropriate texture. The international IDDSI recommendations are used for this purpose.
